Kaolin minerals are composed of kaolinite, dickite, perlite, halloysite and other kaolinite cluster minerals. The main mineral composition is kaolinite.
The crystal chemical formula of kaolinite is 2SiO 2 Al2O3 2H 2. Its theoretical chemical composition is 46.54% SiO 2, 39.5% Al2O3 and 13.96% H 2. Kaolin minerals belong to 1:1 type layered silicate. The crystals are mainly composed of silica-oxygen tetrahedron and Shaohe-hydroxide octahedron, in which silica-oxygen tetrahedron is connected along two-dimensional direction with a common apex angle to form a hexagonal grid layer, and each silica-oxygen tetrahedron has a non-common apex oxygen facing one side. The top oxygen of the common silicon-oxygen tetrahedron layer in the oxygen octahedron layer forms a 1:1 unit layer [1].
