12. The cohesion of kaolin
Viscosity is a characteristic of the relative flow of a fluid which is hindered by internal friction. It is expressed in terms of viscosity (internal friction acting on a unit area) in units of Pa s. The rotating viscometer is usually used to measure the viscosity of kaolin mud with 70% solid content. Viscosity plays an important role in the production process. It is not only an important parameter in the ceramic industry, but also has a great impact on the paper industry. According to the data, kaolin coatings abroad require a viscosity of about 0.5 Pa s for low-speed coating and less than 1.5 Pa s for high-speed coating.
