15. Sintering Property of Kaolin

Sintering property refers to the property that when the solid powdered kaolin body is heated to a melting point close to its melting point (generally more than 1000 C), the material will spontaneously fill the gap between particles and densify. The state in which the porosity decreases to the lowest and the density reaches the maximum is called sintering state, and the corresponding temperature is called sintering temperature. When heated continuously, the liquid phase in the sample increases continuously, and the sample begins to deform. At this time, the temperature is called transformation temperature. The interval between sintering temperature and conversion temperature is called sintering range. Sintering temperature and sintering range are important parameters to determine the blank formula and select the type of kiln in ceramic industry. The sintering temperature and sintering range can be controlled by mixing fusing materials and different types of kaolin in proportion.
